Sexual violence in HE – media

BBC_Radio_4In 2014, I was interviewed about my research by Laurie Taylor on Radio 4’s Thinking Allowed. You can listen to and download the programme here. I was also featured in a World at One documentary (linked here but unfortunately no longer available online).

In 2015 I was interviewed for a feature on Latest TV, about the various initiatives being spearheaded at Sussex University.

I have written a number of articles in the broadsheet and online press, on ‘lad culture’ and sexual violence in higher education. These are linked below.

Universities, don’t conflate ‘lad culture’ with ‘drink culture’ (The Guardian)

Universities are reluctant to tackle sexual violence for fear of PR fallout (The Guardian)

Lad culture thrives in our neoliberal universities (The Guardian)

Getting rid of Dapper Laughs and Julien Blanc is not enough if laddism continues to flourish (The Conversation)

What’s driving the new sexism? (The New Statesman)

I have also been quoted in many articles in both the tabloid and broadsheet press, in publications including The Guardian, The Times, The Independent, The Daily Mail, Glamour Magazine and the Times Higher Education.

Sussex University has made several publicity videos and posters about my research. A feature on my work on ‘lad culture’ and sexual violence, including my REF 2014 Impact Case Study, is hosted on the university website here. The video below is a brief summary of my research ‘story’ and impact on this topic, made for the 2017 university Impact Day.

In 2017 I was featured as one of the ’12 Stories of Sussex’, showcasing faculty research. The feature on my research can be accessed here.
